Your role with us
As the Head of Data Science, you are the one who manages the Data Science team, in alignment with Apeiron’s vision and product strategy. You are responsible for the performance, scalability, and architectural setup of our data science stack. As a team lead, you will guide the growing team of data scientists & analysts in the daily operations, personal development and the workload planning with our development teams.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Managing the budget, plan capacity of the team and grow the team in the future.
- Developing and deploying predictive models for estimation of corporate performance of companies that are tracked in our data.
- Identifying and executing creative ways to answer key industry questions using our proprietary data and insights.
- Ensuring delivery of high-quality engineering solutions with the team, establishing, and implementing best practices for development, testing and deployment.
- Implementing agile software development principles, DevOps and MLOps practices to drive a bigger impact for the team and data science users.
- Managing project timelines and executing to timelines.
What are we looking for?
- You have a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research Engineering field or other relevant studies.
- 6+ years of experience in software development with Python, SQL and R and a track record of designing, building, releasing, and maintaining code in a production environment.
- Working experience as a team lead, mentoring more junior colleagues.
- Experience with time series analysis.
- Experience with Econometric analysis and methods, such as Choice Modelling and analyzing survey-based data.
- Experience with Bayesian analysis in programming languages such as PyMC and Stan.
- Ability to drive a team to maintain high standards when it comes to system design, production systems, testing, code quality and maintainability.

Your role with us
The Ops Engineer’s primary responsibility is to ensure the operational stability, resilience, integrity, and availability of Apeiron’s systems, software, products and data. You will proactively identify software and process related problems. In this role you work together with your team on functional and technical maintenance tasks, developing, testing, accepting, and implementing changes.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Performing Incident, Problem and Change Management activities.
- Collaborating with software developers to integrate automation practices into the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to automate manual tasks, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting automated systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Conducting regular code reviews, ensure adherence to best practices, and implement quality control measures.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and plan and execute automation initiatives.
What are we looking for?
- A bachelor in IT/Computer Science or comparable level gained through experience.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a DevOps or automation-focused role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python programming and experience with developing automation scripts and tools.
- Experience with different version control systems tools such as GitHub and/or SVN.
- Experience in scripting languages such as Unix Shell Scripting, Python, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
- Knowledge of release management, creating, testing and implementation of new releases.

Your role with us
As a Data Analyst you are responsible for analyzing Apeiron’s various data streams. You will help the Data Engineering team to spot anomalies in the data processing & provide the Business team with data analyses and actionable insights. You collect and combine data sets from various sources and build and maintain dashboards and reports to provide insights into the processes in our warehouse.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Collecting, analyzing and interpreting large amounts of data.
- Identifying patterns, trends and deviations in the data and translating them into understandable reports and actionable insights.
- Maintaining existing data processes and engineering new (automation) solutions to achieve better and faster reporting and analysis of our various datasets.
- Collaborating with the Engineering team to optimize data collection and analysis processes.
- Presenting findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner and become the intermediary between the business needs and data solutions.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in analyzing large datasets and using statistical analysis methods.
- Extensive knowledge of programming languages such as Python and SQL.
- Experience with data visualization and the use of tools such as Excel (including writing macros) and Power BI and data analysis libraries, such as Matplotlib, Pandas, NumPy and SciPy.
- You are a self-starter who works well in a fast-paced environment.
- You are currently living in the Netherlands and are able to fluently communicate in English (verbally and in writing). Command of the Dutch language is a plus.

As our Software Developer you will thrive on building, maintaining, and improving our core products and services which form the solution suites for Apeiron’s products and data. Some of the challenges you will face are implementing business logic, analyzing, and solving issues reported by our customers, understanding, and improving our data model using a SQL server database.

- Optimizing code for robustness and speed, ensuring efficient processing of large datasets.

Your role with us
For a couple of months you will work as a Data Scientist/Statistician at a fast moving start-up. You will get your own research project to get insights out of our data; preferably insights that we can sell to our clients! We are happy to work things around other academic obligations.
You will be part of the Data Science team. It’s a small team of 5 people, which has the advantage that you will be in close contact with your colleagues, helping them (and learning from them) when you can.
Apeiron will provide clear training in terms of the understanding of the raw data, the data engineering process including the algorithms logic and the initial Data Science efforts already implemented.
What else will you do?
The exact project you will work on will be determined by us, together with you. Some possibilities include:
- Selecting features for a classifier and then building and optimizing it using machine learning techniques.
- Analyzing big graphs with novel techniques.
- Extending the company’s data with third party sources of information.
- Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
- Performing data analysis, extracting new insights and presenting results in a clear manner.
What are we looking for?
- A student of a study with a heavy emphasis on data analysis and data science. Can be Data Science, Computer Science, Quantitative Psychology, Physics, Mathematics or a related study.
- Good understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Good programming skills.
- Familiarity in using Python and/or R.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- A self-starter willing to thrive in a start-up environment, who is interested in working in a high pace, high visibility organization.
- Experience with Bayesian Probabilistic Programming library (or language) such as PyMC, Stan or Pyro would be a nice to have.
- Experience analyzing big graphs is a nice to have too.
